God's Only Mistake: Becoming a Man in My Father's Eyes
|
The real life story of Joe Abbate (me), an agoraphobic with anxiety disorders, who is called upon by his family to nurse his father (the world's crankiest patient ever) back to health after heart bypass surgery. This comedy/drama takes place in the back woods of Maine.
I use the thoughts and emotions captured in my journal while caring for my father (at his worst) and stitch them together with flashbacks of my father (at his best) from my childhood to tell the story of the father-son relationship. You may want to have some tissues handy when you read it. On the cover at the left: Joe Sr. and Joe Jr. circa 1955. PURCHASE A COPY |
Classified Terminally Ill: My Story of Beating the Odds
The inspirational story of my friend C.V. Abbott (left) and his triumph over SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy).
At around the age of six months old, C.V.'s family was given the devastating news that he would most likely die before the age of two. And even if he did survive past that point, he would be on machines to keep him breathing. C.V. not only lived to beat those odds, he demolished them! Now in his 20's, C.V. went on to finish school with the rest of his friends; and he even went to his prom with his best girl. He taught himself to play guitar, became a music instructor, and even formed a rock band. This is a story that will inspire everyone. PURCHASE A COPY |
